Rūdolfs Eņģelis is a partner and head of the Banking & Finance Team, which includes the Banking, Project Finance & PPP, Capital Markets, Financial Services Regulatory and Investment Funds, Structures & Pensions Practices. He also heads the Insurance Team and the Competition & Regulatory Team, which includes the Competition, Energy & Utilities and Infrastructure & Regulatory Practices. He has been practising law since 1999.

Rūdolfs' key areas of expertise include banking & finance and competition & regulatory. He has represented clients in finance transactions, and has advised extensively on the Latvian regulatory environment in banking and securities law and in PPP. He has also acted for banks in starting up or restructuring their operations in Latvia and advised on the first state bail-out of a private commercial bank in Latvia. Clients that Rūdolfs has advised include many leading names in the international and local financial markets, as well as public institutions and multilateral financial organisations. He has also represented clients in cases before the Competition Council of Latvia, including merger clearances and alleged antitrust violations, and has acted in antitrust litigation in Latvia. Before joining SORAINEN, he was assistant to Justice Prof Ilma Čepāne at the Latvian Constitutional Court. Rūdolfs has also lectured on EC law and EC Competition law at the Law Faculty of the University of Latvia.
