Baltic M&A and Private Equity Forum 2015 has gathered leading market players in Estonia

The sixth Baltic M&A and Private Equity Forum is taking place on 29-30 October in Tallinn, this year focusing among other topics on outbound investments.

Comments Toomas Prangli, co-managing partner of SORAINEN, “We are glad to note that the Forum is attended by more than 260 participants this year, proving that it is a valuable venue for sharing the latest market trends, networking and discussing business opportunities. It can be concluded from the presentations and discussions held at the Forum that bold open-minded ideas combined with persistent and professional implementation often pay off despite challenges met on the way. The new funds backed by the investments from Baltic Innovation Fund are shaping the Baltic private equity market. Local companies have now better access to the capital for investments and expansion.”

The keynote speaker of the Forum is Ukraine's Minister of Economic Development & Trade and former investment banker with East Capital and Hansabank, Aivaras Abromavičius. According to Mr. Abromavičius, major reforms by the new government have taken Ukraine first to stabilisation and now to a growth path. Based on the World Bank Group’s recently published Doing Business 2016 rankings, Ukraine has risen to the 83rd position by ease of doing business while two years ago Ukraine was positioned on the 112th place.

For the second year the Forum also features the Baltic M&A and Private Equity Awards. Presented at the awards gala held at club Sinilind in Tallinn on the eve of 29 October, the awards covered four categories - Baltic Private Equity/Venture Capital Deal of the Year 2015, Baltic M&A Deal of the Year 2015, and Outbound Deal from the Baltics 2015 award and the Annual Achievement Award for the Baltic Private Equity & Venture Capital Industry, established by the European Investment Fund.

Acquisition of Latgran by Graanul Invest from BillerudKorsnas and Baltic Resources was named the Baltic M&A Deal of the Year 2015 and the closing of a USD 58 million Series C funding round by TrasnferWise was awarded as the Baltic PE/VC Deal of the Year 2015. The first Outbound Deal from the Baltics 2015 went to NDX for acquisition of Lantmännen Doggy from Lantmännen, while the Annual Achievement Award for the Baltic Private Equity & Venture Capital Industry went to Livonia Partners for their active contribution to the development of the Baltic private equity industry.

The Forum organisers are business media leaders Äripäev (in Estonia), Dienas bizness (in Latvia), Verslo žinios (in Lithuania), and leading international business law firm SORAINEN, in co-operation with the Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian Private Equity and Venture Capital Associations.
