Yesterday SORAINEN was acknowledged as the “Baltic M&A Legal Adviser of the Year” for 2015, thus winning the award for the second year in a row. Awards by Mergermarket, the international intelligence and news service provider, recognise the leading law firms and financial advisers in the mergers and acquisitions (M&A) field in Europe. It is the fourth time that SORAINEN has been honoured with this prestigious international acknowledgement. SORAINEN consulted the largest number of transactions (15) with the highest total value (EUR 252 million) during the period researched.
Says Toomas Prangli, head of the SORAINEN M&A Practice: “This has been yet another exceptional year for our M&A specialists. We have advised on a number of ground-breaking deals which often required innovative solutions and the joint capabilities of our integrated team across all three Baltic States and Belarus. We are grateful to our clients, who trust us with their large, complicated, cross-border mergers. On behalf of the SORAINEN team I thank all our clients for choosing us as legal advisers to help see that their most important business decisions are brought to a successful conclusion.”
Among key mandates last year, the firm is proud to have advised:
According to Mergermarket statistics, members of the SORAINEN M&A team lead the Top 15 individual lawyers by the total number of major M&A transactions advised in the Baltics. Toomas Prangli, Laimonas Skibarka, Eva Berlaus, Paul Künnap, Mantas Petkevičius, Kęstutis Adamonis, Sergej Butov, Renāte Purvinska and Kadri Kallas take positions in the Top 15. Together with other SORAINEN team members they are credited with 158 transactions at a total disclosed value of EUR 20.571 billion during 2005-2015.
The winners are chosen through a unique three-stage selection process which employs both empirical data and independent expert opinion to form a reasoned and substantiated selection. The judging panel, which includes senior representatives from Mergermarket, major private equity funds and international law firms, evaluates the strategic nature, complexity and innovation of cross-border deals in each year.
