Latvia

Latvia is the middle country of the Baltic States (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania). On the world map, Latvia lies in north-eastern Europe, on the east coast of the Baltic Sea. It is situated at a trading crossroads and has long served as a bridge between Western Europe and Russia.

Riga is Latvia's capital and largest city, the country's industrial, commercial, cultural and financial centre and an important seaport. Riga's historic centre with its impressive art nouveau architecture has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, but it is also a metropolis with a big-city atmosphere hard to find elsewhere in the region.
