Experience

Kristi Lehtis, of counsel with Sorainen, is a dual qualified lawyer in Estonia and England/Wales. She has been involved in a significant number of competition cases and international M&A deals. Before joining Sorainen, she worked for five years at the London, Qatar and Dubai offices of international law firm Simmons & Simmons. This gives her a unique knowledge of the Estonian, English and Arabic legal systems.

Her competition experience includes advising Estonia’s largest infrastructure, transport, postal and food manufacturing companies on pricing and distribution issues, preparing competition due diligence reports, training clients and lawyers in competition law.  She has also trained at the European Commission, DG Competition.

Her international corporate and M&A experience includes advising:

  • Qatar Investment Authority on a USD 1 billion joint venture with NYSE Euronext in respect of Qatar Exchange, the new operating company for the Qatar stock exchange;
  • international software and solutions company Anite on the  GBP 54.3 million sale of Anite Public Sector Holdings to Northgate Information Solutions UK Limited;
  • SEDCO Capital, the Saudi Arabian-based asset manager and one of the world's leading providers of Shariah-compliant investment solutions, on the development and successful launch of a one-stop-shop investment platform of Shariah-compliant funds domiciled in Luxembourg and regulated as a specialised investment fund (this deal won the Innovation Award  at the third annual Corporate Counsel Middle East Awards 2014).
