Alexey Anischenko is a partner and co-head of the Commercial & Regulatory Practice Group in the Baltic States and Belarus, which includes the Competition, Distribution & Trade, Energy & Utilities, Information Technology & Data Protection, Infrastructure & Regulatory, Intellectual Property, Telecommunications and Transport & Maritime Practice Areas. He also heads the Sorainen Dispute Resolution, Insurance and Tax & Customs Practice Areas in Belarus. He has been practising law since 1999.

Alexey's wide dispute resolution practice comprises client representation in commercial arbitration and litigation both in and outside Belarus with particular focus on international trade, administrative and corporate disputes. He has advised and represented clients in many high-profile disputes not only in Belarusian commercial courts, including number of landmark cases considered by Supreme Commercial Court and most recently Supreme Court of the Republic of Belarus, but also under ICC, LCIA, SCC, VIAC and  IAC rules.  

In addition to contentious work Alexey offers extensive experience in drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts in trade, distribution, services, IP/IT, energy and construction. He also has substantial M&A and corporate experience in advising foreign companies and banks on their investments in Belarus since 2006.

Alexey is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and certified mediator accredited by the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus. He is the on List of Recommended Arbitrators of the International Arbitration Court of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BelCCI) and Vienna International Arbitration Centre, Vilnius Court of Commercial Arbitration and the Sports Arbitration Court of the Public Association “Belarusian Republican Union of Lawyers”, where he also serves as a member of the Presidium. Alexey has practical experience of serving as arbitrator under the ICC and SCC Rules. 

Alexey is designated by the Republic of Belarus to the ICSID Panel of Arbitrators, appointed to the roster of experts for resolution of disputes according to Annex 4 to the Free Trade Area Agreement 2011 of 18 October 2011 and has unique experience of delivering expert report to the Court of the Eurasian Economic Community and acting as the General Advisor to the Economic Court of Commonwealth of Independent States in number of cases related to investment and arbitration, including most recent landmark decision on interpretation of the Article 11 of the Convention for Protection of Investors’ Rights of March 28, 1997 that was nominated by Global Arbitration Review as one of the 10 most important judgements in 2014.

Apart from his practice Alexey is lecturing at the Belarusian State University on International Commercial Arbitration, WTO law, EU Internal Market Law and Legal Drafting, regularly speaks and contributes to publications on dispute resolution and international trade matters both in Belarus and abroad. He is an member of the Public Advisory Counsel to the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Belarus.

In 2017 Alexey has coauthored the first full-scale, comprehensive textbook on international commercial arbitration written by Belarusian authors and published in Belarus.
