Tomas Kontautas is a partner and regional head of the Insurance Team, also head of the Banking & Finance Team in Lithuania, which includes the Banking, Project Finance and PPP, Capital Markets, Financial Services & Regulation and Investment Funds, Structures & Pensions Practices, and head of the Tax Team in Lithuania. He has been practising law since 1997.

Tomas in his practice has advised many banks, finance institutions and insurance companies in finance law, insurance law and tax law issues. During his professional career, Tomas has been a lawyer with one of the leading law firms in Lithuania, deputy chairman of the Insurance Supervisory Commission and deputy head of the Legal Division of the State Insurance Supervisory Authority.

Tomas lectures in financial services law at Vilnius University and is often invited to give lectures at foreign universities. His last book Insurance Contract Law is the first on the topic in Lithuanian legal history. Tomas was a member of the CoPECL (established under the European Commission's Sixth Framework Programme to deliver a Common Frame of Reference containing principles of European Contract Law) Economic Impact Group.
