    Continuously advising the world leader in in-vitro diagnostics and drugs for cancer and transplantation on regulatory issues related to medical devices, including recent representation in a dispute with importers of medical devises and advice on issues related to interference with health care professionals.

    Advising a leading pharmaceutical corporation on tax and legal aspects of donating medicinal products in Latvia and on the administrative procedure for disputing marketing authorisation for generic copycat products violating the client's intellectual property and other rights plus assisting in adoption of a global guideline relationship between health care professionals and medical representatives.

    Successfully defending leading Czech producer of medical equipment in a series of disputes regarding nullification and termination of delivery contract initiated by Belarusian buyer as a result of internal violation of tender procedures.

    Guiding one of the top 15 global pharmaceutical companies on patent disputes in the Baltics, including analysis of pharmaceutical compounds in relation to existing patents, assessment of potential litigation strategies, advising on litigation practices and considering existing patent revocation actions. Advising the client on inclusion of its drug on the list of medicines payable by the State Mandatory Heath Insurance Fund: a dispute with state institutions was completed to the client's advantage. Representing the client in a patent dispute in Latvian courts concerning one of the best selling drugs in the world - Viagra.

  • ACQUISITION, ESTABLISHMENT & REORGANISATION

    Advising Estonian counsel for the EBRD in relation to the equity investment stage of a EUR 20 million financial package for a pharmaceutical company active in the CIS. The overall investment is a combination of equity and debt to finance expansion of the company in CIS countries and to refinance the company's short-term debt.

    Advising Pharmsyntez, a leading publicly listed Russian pharmaceutical company, on its acquisition of Estonian based pharmaceutical manufacturer Kevelt. The acquisition was a first step for Pharmsyntez towards entering the European Union (EU) market by acquiring a high capacity production site in Tallinn which meets all EU regulatory requirements.

    Advising SelfDiagnostics, a start-up technology company developing and introducing new medical diagnostics devices to the market, on a shareholder agreement with the Estonian Development Fund. The Fund together with a private investor is investing EUR 300,000 in SelfDiagnostics, which is developing an innovative instant home test in pathogen-specific medical diagnostics.

    Advising Bayer Consumer Care, a major global healthcare products company, in connection with acquisition of Sagmel, a major pharmaceuticals business in Belarus and the Baltics. The transaction involved creation of new corporate structures and acquisition of assets in Belarus. The client was also advised on legal aspects of doing business in Belarus, including structuring distribution relations with local resellers.

    Facilitating Sandoz Pharmaceuticals, a world leader in generic pharmaceuticals, on establishing a representative office in Latvia plus advising on various business law issues.

    Assisting a leading clinical drug development company on business setup in Latvia. Services included help with choosing the right business model and establishing a branch in Latvia plus advising on complicated data protection and producer liability issues.

    Advising leading producer of diagnostic systems on everyday matters related to corporate, employment and commercial contracts issues.
