• Forum: Eighth annual Modern Wealth Management Forum 23 May 2013, Latvia, Tax & Customs On 23 and 24 May 2013, the eigth annual Modern Wealth Management Forum will take place in Jurmala, Latvia. SORAINEN will be represented by tax partner Jānis Taukačs. This is.one of the major events for the wealth management (WM) industry in Eastern Europe, CIS and Russia, and it provides a unique meeting place for WM industry representatives.
• International conference: Real Estate and Construction in the Baltics 2013 19 Apr 2013, Latvia, Real Estate, Construction RMS-Forum, a branch of the Riga Managers School, which organises international conferences, was organising its 16th international conference “Real Estate and Construction in the Baltics 2013: Markets, Development, Forecasts”, which was held in Riga. The regional head of the SORAINEN Real Estate & Construction Team, partner Ģirts Rūda, participated at the conference with a presentation on “The Latvian real estate transaction barometer as viewed by attorneys – what to expect in the near future”, where he shared his recent experiences in purchasing, leasing and other transactions.
• AIJA: Buying the Brains: M&A in IP/IT Intensive Sectors 19 Apr 2013, Estonia, Private Equity, Mergers & Acquisitions, Intellectual Property, Information Technology & Data Protection AIJA, the global association devoted to lawyers and in-house counsel, is organising a seminar on 19-20 April 2013 entitled “Buying the Brains: M&A in IP/IT intensive sectors”.
• Conference: How will the real estate market develop in Latvia? 5 Apr 2013, Latvia, Real Estate On 5 April 2013, the Latvian Real Estate Dealers Association (LANĪDA) will organise its second conference for real estate market professionals. The conference will start with a plenary session on real estate policy in Latvia. Representatives from government ministries and the Latvian Parliament will participate in the conference. The regional head of the SORAINEN Real Estate & Construction Team, partner Ģirts Rūda, will give a presentation on repossessed real estate, aspects to be considered when buying property, risks, problems and the effect of competition law.

• Conference on topical civil procedure issues 14 Dec 2012, Latvia, Dispute Resolution The Latvian Ministry of Justice is organising a conference for legal scholars and practitioners on topical issues involving civil procedure on 14 December 2012. Among speakers, SORAINEN partner Agris Repšs will present “Applying security measures to claims in international civil proceedings”. Applications by 7 December.
• International conference: Audit, Taxes and Accounting 2012 7 Dec 2012, Latvia, Tax & Customs For the 15th time the international conference Audit, Taxes and Accounting 2012 will take place in Riga, Latvia, on 7 December. • Conference: Topical accounting and finance management issues and solutions 28 Nov 2012, Latvia, Tax & Customs Bilance magazine invites to the fourth annual conference “Topical accounting and finance management issues and solutions” on 28 November 2012 in Riga. SORAINEN senior associate Sabīne Vuškāne will give a presentation on "Assessment of the new VAT Law". This is a place for accounting, tax and other finance specialists to introduce with the most important events and rules of the finance game to be expected in 2013.
• Seminar on public procurement 15 Nov 2012, Latvia, Public Procurement Extensive amendments to the Public Procurement Law came into force on 1 August 2012 and new proposals are being drafted for the next set of amendments. The LCCI has actively engaged in improving this law. The seminar on Public Procurement Law will provide an opportunity to meet LCCI members, other entrepreneurs and experts and to find answers to topical issues. Legal experts will talk about the most important amendments, as well as the planned changes in regulations at the Latvian and European Union levels.
• Forum: VII Belarusian Investment Forum 15 Nov 2012, Belarus, Investment Incentives On 15-16 November the VII Belarusian Investment Forum will take place in Minsk. • Conference: Assessing the operations of the institution of the state presidency in Latvia 14 Nov 2012, Latvia On 14 November 2012, 90 years will have passed since the election of the first state president of Latvia, Jānis Čakste. The Chancery of the President has organised several events including an international scientific conference with participation of SORAINEN specialist cousel Allar Jõks, who held the position of Chancellor of Justice of Estonia from 2001 to 2008.

• Seminar: Legislation and its importance for successful business and growth 20 Sep 2012, Latvia, Tax & Customs On 20 September 2012, the largest town in the Vidzeme region, Valmiera, will host a seminar, “Legislation and its importance for successful business and growth”, organised by the publishing house Lietišķās informācijas dienests and SEB banka.
