International conference-forum: Invest Expo 2011

On 6-7 May, International Exhibition Company BT 1 was organising the "Invest Expo 2011" forum, the first investment forum for business and local authority development. At the forum, Jānis Taukačs,  a partner with law firm SORAINEN and regional head of the firm's Tax & Customs Team, delivered a presentation on the "Latvian tax environment in the Baltic landscape or is the Baltic Tiger indeed a Tiger?" at the core conference "Opportunities to Invest in Latvia and the Baltic States".

The conference aimed to provide information to business people along with representatives of state and municipal institutions and to enable discussion on the current economic situation in Latvia, scenarios for development and opportunities to attract investment. Special attention were paid to sources of funding and financial tools to expand and develop businesses. The conference also offered municipal presentations on the local business environment and successful investment projects.

The conference was opened by Artis Kampars, Minister of Economics of the Republic of Latvia. Speakers at the conference also included experts from the Latvian Investment and Development Agency, the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Latvian banking sector and investment funds, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development, as well as legal experts and officials from local authorities.

The "Invest Expo 2011" forum is organised by the International Exhibition Company BT 1 in conjunction with the Shenyang Sub-Council of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, Liaoning Asia & Pacific International Cooperation and Exchange Center, the Ministry of Economics of the Republic of Latvia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia, the Latvian Investment and Development Agency, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Latvia, Riga City Council, Jelgava City Council, airBaltic, the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Diplomatic Economic Club, Islande Hotel and Trasta komercbanka.
