RMS-Forum, a branch of the Riga Managers School, which organises international conferences, is organising its 16th international conference “Real Estate and Construction in the Baltics 2013: Markets, Development, Forecasts”, which washeld in Riga.

The regional head of the SORAINEN Real Estate & Construction Team, partner Ģirts Rūda, participated at the conference with a presentation on “The Latvian real estate transaction barometer as viewed by attorneys – what to expect in the near future”, where he shared his recent experiences in purchasing, leasing and other transactions.

Specialists from the real estate industry provided answers to many topical issues, among others:

  • Can changes be expected in regulatory law relating to real estate and construction?
  • Has the granting of residence permits in exchange for real estate investment facilitated economic development?
  • What happens to property repossessed by banks?
  • What market segments will remain attractive for investors? What financial strategies will be the best?
  • How do the banks think the domestic mortgage market will develop?
  • Has the reorganisation of Riga’s building maintenance companies brought any advantages?
  • What is the property alienation procedure?

During the discussions, speakers expressed their opinions of new financial strategies and their experience of the optimisation of real estate company operations during a crisis, as well as predicting developments in the real estate and construction markets. Analysts, government representatives and real estate experts discussed the outlook for the real estate and construction markets in Europe and the Baltics, the most successful ways to attract investment and tax policy.
