On 28 March 2014, RMS-Forum – Riga Managers School, which organises international conferences, was organising its 17th international conference “Real Estate and Construction in the Baltics 2014: markets, development, forecasts”.  SORAINEN senior associate Lelde Laviņa gave presentation on the topic „Revolution in construction. Has it really happened?”.

The real estate market is the most susceptible to crisis and post-crisis expressions. The leading experts and specialists of the real estate market and the construction industry shared their experience and plans about strategies and approaches of exiting the crisis without having a great damage.

What and how much is being built in Latvia?

  • Are changes in the legislation of the real estate and construction industry effective?
  • The role of the Riga Municipality in the real estate market
  • Riga without slums – is it possible?
  • Students’ accommodations – the experience of NCH in the Great Britain.
  • What kind of market segments will remain attractive for the investment?
  • What financial strategies can become the most effective?
  • How do the banks forecast the development of the situation in the mortgage lending market after the introduction of euro?
  • Multi-functional building projects in Riga and high intensity building in Riga – challenges for investors?
  • How is the expropriation of property organised (a bank – an assessor – an owner)?
  • How professionally the state real estate is being developed?

Participants of the conference received answers on these and other topical questions from known real estate experts – representatives from the Ministry of Economy of Latvia, Latvian Association of Building Material Producers, Riga City Council and the Bank of Latvia, as well as specialists from Russia, Germany and Lithuania.
