Renata Beržanskienė, partner with SORAINEN Lithuania will take part in the first annual seminar of the UIA Biotechnology Law Working Group in Budapest, Hungary on 3-5 April 2014. The event, organized by the International Association of Lawyers, will bring together academics, bioethicists, business experts and lawyers from four continents to share their knowledge with attorneys, biotechnology companies and other professionals.

Presenters include Artificial Reproductive Technology Legal Trailblazer Steven Snyder and former Canadian Supreme Court Justice Michel Bastarache, author of the famous decision rejecting patents on higher life forms entitled Harvard College v. Canada (Commissioner of Patents).

The audience will gain practical information on:

  • emerging legal questions in patent eligibility, protection & enforcement
  • licensing, technology transfer and cooperation contracts
  • moral dimensions of Artificial Reproductive Technology
  • hot topics in telemedicine and bioinformatics plus privacy concerns

SORAINEN Lithuania partner Renata Beržanskienė, together with Richard T. Ruzich, partner with Taft Stettinus & Hollister LLP, Chicago will discuss the importance of legal due diligence in the life sciences sector.
