Seminar: Informative campaign on late payments

Place: Radisson Blu Daugava Hotel, Kuģu iela 24, Riga, Latvia
Time: 20 May 2014 09:00 - 13:30
Working language: Latvian

On 20 May, the Employers’ Confederation of Latvia held a seminar on late payments. According to data from the European Commission, in 2013 Latvia lost 5% of its total turnover due to late payments. The average term for settling payments between companies, as well as between state administration institutions and companies, was 37 days in 2013.

This informative seminar aimed to publicise the issue of late payments. The target was to change the attitudes held by the state administration and business representatives towards timely payment of invoices, as well as to inform the public about new measures that are being implemented to facilitate immediate payments.

Among the speakers at the seminar, there were the head of the European Commission Representation in Latvia, Inna Šteinbuka, the Secretary of State for the Ministry of Justice, Raivis Kronbergs, and a member of the Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection, Sandra Kalniete. SORAINEN was represented by senior associate Raivo Raudzeps, who participated in the panel discussion.

More information (in Latvian) about the conference is available here.
