The RMS forum - the XVIII International Conference on "Real Estate and Construction in the Baltics 2015", organised by Riga Managers School Division, was held on 20 March 2015 in Riga Municipality.

The real-estate market is closely linked to the political and financial issues for real-estate investment objects. These objects are mainly sold in times of uncertainty and instability. Currently, one of the reasons that investors are concerned is that the EU and the US have adopted sanctions against Russia.

This year's conference was attended by SORAINEN lawyer Jorens Jaunozols, who discussed: "Building permits: an understanding of building construction processes and challenging problems."

Other issues that were addressed by the conference speakers:

  • What kinds of changes are happening in the real-estate markets in Lithuania, Estonia, Finland, Belarus and Russia?
  • Are there any changes expected in the demand for real estate?
  • How viable is the local real-estate market?
  • Will the apartment rental market become profitable again?
  • What will happen in the construction industry?
  • How effective are the changes to the Construction Law?
  • Will non-bank lending develop further in 2015?
