Working language: Latvian and English (simultaneous interpreting will be provided)

On 29-30 September 2016, the State Administration School (Valsts administrācijas skola) organised an international conference “Shadow economy minimisation: challenges and solutions” in Riga. The conference aimed to draw attention to problems related to the shadow economy and to outline possible solutions, discuss topical issues and solutions in decreasing the shadow economy, and to facilitate sharing good practice, including organising training for employees in state administration on minimising the shadow economy and anti-corruption.

The target audience of the conference is policy makers, representatives of law enforcement and other institutions. Speakers were experts from Latvia and abroad in the area of research, state administration, and business. The conference applied a practical approach: to detect the facts, as well as to discuss and (critically) analyse possible solutions.

At the conference Sorainen was presented by senior associate Dace Everte, on positive examples of combating value added tax fraud in Europe.
