In the autumn of 1991, Aku Sorainen started writing his final thesis at the University of Lapland about business and foreign investment-related legislation in the Baltic States.

On 6 September 1995, Aku Sorainen established Sorainen in Tallinn.

In August 1997, the office was established in Riga, followed by the Vilnius office in December 1998, thus completing our pan-Baltic coverage.

In November 1997, the first Baltic Legal Update was published.

In September 1999, the first Baltic Business Law seminar took place.

In April 2000, the Helsinki office was opened to support our Finnish clientele regarding their business operations in the Baltics.

In March 2006, Sorainen became the first law firm in the Baltic region and one of only a very few in the Nordic countries implementing a quality management system certified in line with the ISO 9001:2000 standard.

In August 2006, the number of Sorainen personnel reached 100.

In March 2008, the office was opened in Minsk.

Since summer 2008, Sorainen has over 100 lawyers.

In 2008, Sorainen personnel exceeded 150 people.

In autumn 2008, the ISO 9001:2000 certificate was extended.
