Dear clients and cooperation partners,
Since our last M&A and Private Equity Legal Update in mid April a number of developments have taken place, which we try to cover in this update.
We start with a short review of current trends in the Baltic M&A market, highlighting a decrease in M&A transactions and an increase in distressed buyouts. Even though M&A activity has been slow, during the last six months a number of notable transactions have been completed in the Baltics and Belarus, several of which are mentioned below. We also note a significant development for the Baltic private equity industry – the recent selection of Lithuanian and Latvian funds to be funded under the JEREMIE initiative. As usual, this update also covers the main developments in the law and new legislative initiatives in the EU, the Baltics, and Belarus.
