Dear clients and cooperation partners,

Please note that on 20 December 2016 the Lithuanian Parliament decided to delay the effective date of the new Labour Code (LC) until 1 July 2017. This decision will come into force after approval by the President of the Republic of Lithuania.

Even though it was previously decided that the LC would come into force on 1 January 2017, according to the new Parliament the LC should once again be reconsidered among all social partners. Since the effective date of the new LC is delayed, the current LC will remain in force.

The postponement of the LC will give employers additional time to properly prepare for its implementation. However, it is likely that the new LC will be further adjusted before 1 July 2017.
