Sorainen successfully represented Mindaugas Marcinkevièius, a minority shareholder in VP grupë, against claimant Vilniaus prekyba, which was seeking an order for Mindaugas Marcinkevièius to pay approx EUR 81 million on account of his alleged action to stop the sale of Akropolis shopping centres several years ago. The Vilnius City District Court dismissed Vilniaus prekyba’s action. The decision can be appealed to the Lithuanian Court of Appeal within 30 days.

According to Sorainen partner, attorney-at-law Kæstutis Švirinas, who represented the client, this court ruling means that Mindaugas Marcinkevièius did not cause any harm during the Akropolis transfer transaction.

In May 2016 Vilniaus prekyba, which controls one of the biggest business groups in Lithuania, acquired Akropolis group, Akropolis Real Estate and Nikola Mushanov projektas, which controlled Akropolis shopping centres and other real estate. Transaction value was over EUR 400 million. Vilniaus prekyba was seeking to acquire the shopping centres in 2015 but the transaction was stopped at the time.

Sorainen represented the client in the court proceedings including assistance with preparing procedural documents.

The Sorainen team was led by partners Kæstutis Švirinas and Kæstutis Adamonis, with associate Aušra Gaurytė and legal assistant Gabrielė Raiþytė.
