Defending Baltics 2026: The War Above Us is a high-level defence and security conference focused on the lessons of the war in Ukraine and what they mean for the defence of the Baltic region and Europe.

Taking place on 26-27 October in Vilnius, the conference will bring together military leaders, policymakers, defence experts, industry representatives and Ukrainian practitioners to discuss what the next war may demand from Europe and what needs to be done before it begins. This year’s programme focuses on the air domain and the wider battlespace above us, covering topics such as drones, missiles, persistent ISR, electronic warfare, long-range strike, air and missile defence, critical infrastructure protection, continuity of essential services and battlefield adaptation. The agenda also draws directly on lessons from Ukraine and explores Europe’s defence readiness, capability development and resilience. The programme is structured around three core capabilities:

  • Detect – ISR, space-based capabilities, sensors, electronic warfare and early warning
  • Defeat – air and missile defence, counter-UAS systems, long-range strike and the ability to produce at wartime speed
  • Endure – critical infrastructure protection, continuity of government and essential services, and rapid recovery after attacks

Sorainen is proud to be among the partners of Defending Baltics 2026. As part of the programme, Evaldas Dūdonis, Partner and Co-Head of the Defence Sector Group at Sorainen, will moderate the panel discussion “Strike at Scale – Can Europe Buy, Adapt and Produce at the Speed of War?”

The discussion will explore questions that are increasingly important for Europe’s defence preparedness: how to strengthen defence capabilities not only through technology and production capacity, but also through arrangements that enable faster procurement, financing and deployment.
