63rd International Young Lawyers’ Congress in Washington D.C.

AIJA’s 63rd Annual Congress will take place in Washington, D.C., offering young lawyers the opportunity to grow, connect, and make a difference in the rapidly evolving legal landscape.
AIJA is the only global association dedicated to lawyers and in-house legal counsel aged 45 and under, committed to empowering the next generation of legal talent.
The theme, “Empower NextGen: Meeting Young Lawyers Where They Are,” reflects the mission to provide knowledge, tools, support, and connections to help young lawyers thrive. Washington D.C., a global hub for law, governance, and policy, provides the perfect backdrop for expanding knowledge, gaining new perspectives, and building relationships.
The academic program will focus on practical business development and networking skills, essential business skills, and mental health strategies to sustain a successful legal career. This Congress encourages young lawyers to identify their professional goals and build a community of lifelong professional contacts and friends.
Our partner and head of Sorainen’s Life Sciences & Healthcare sector group Lise-Lotte Lääne will moderate Session 4 – Smart Hospitals and the Future of Health Law: Managing Challenges and Protecting IP Rights.
About the session
As healthcare embraces cutting-edge technologies, the legal landscape must adapt. This session dives into the intersection of digital health innovations—like smart hospitals, the Internet of Things (IoT), wearables, and digital therapeutics—and the legal implications arising thereof. With big data’s rise, data integrity, cybersecurity, and patient privacy are more critical than ever.
We will explore complex IP issues tied to biotech advancements and the legal frameworks for biotech research. As innovations cross borders, we will discuss global perspectives on licensing, ownership, and protection of IP rights. This session is essential for anyone interested in the future of healthcare and IP law in our interconnected, digital world.
