Environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors are no longer simply a nice-to-have green check mark for businesses. They’re often either mandated by regulations, demanded by clients and partners, or both. As the importance of ESG in business continues to increase, both investment decisions and business process organisation now require skilful navigation of the regulatory landscape.

At Sorainen we invest in educating clients and the market in general on ESG matters. This includes organising webinars, producing informative newsletters, accepting speaking opportunities, and establishing partnerships. That’s why we’re proud to launch a regional cycle of webinars focusing on ESG transitions in the Baltic region.

Spotlight on the business of supply chains

Our first regional webinar on 20 September will focus on supply chain management and feature speakers from all three Baltic countries. It will cover both legal requirements and the client experience. Sorainen country managing partner Eva Berlaus will discuss the European Commission’s proposed Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD). The directive is still at the proposal stage; however, companies should keep the requirements included in it in mind while negotiating contracts and building internal ESG frameworks.

We will also be joined by Novo Nordisk Head of Sustainability Maryam Pirooznia. The Danish pharmaceutical company makes several drugs under various brand names, which it markets in 170 countries. In addition, Orkla Eesti Sustainability Manager Evelin Heiberg will present on ensuring compliance with CSDDD in their supply chain. Orkla Eesti AS is a leading Estonian food industry company. It combines two local brands and production units, both of which have a long history: Kalev and Põltsamaa. The company also represents several other well-known brands in the Estonian market (Orkla Eesti is part of the international Orkla Group). Finally, we will have a discussion and Q&A session moderated by Vitalija Impolevičienė, the Sorainen ESG service line leader in Lithuania.

Experienced in ESG and beyond

At Sorainen we’ve established a well-deserved reputation for working on matters that make the region greener, safer, and fairer. The Sorainen ESG service line is dedicated to helping clients navigate the constantly changing landscape of sustainability-related regulation.
