About me

I am Sorainen managing partner and head of our Corporate and M&A practice group in Latvia. Passionate about hands-on work in client matters and law firm management, I constantly strive for improvement. Having a wide range of matters to work on makes me happy, which explains why I have been with Sorainen for almost half my lifetime!

Professional highlights

Seasoned M&A and private equity practitioner. I am one of the most experienced M&A and private equity practitioners currently active in the Latvian market. Our team is constantly involved with M&A and private equity transactions that feature among the largest in the country. Quite a number of those transactions have been historically important for the development of the Latvian legal system, such as the bailout of Parex bank by the government in 2008, or the more recent acquisition of MTG Baltic operations by Providence Equity Partners.

Corporate governance as academic interest. I research and closely follow the development of corporate governance in Latvia. For over 10 years, I have been lecturing on this topic in different forums, organising events, and helping clients in order to build efficient corporate governance structures in their companies and advising on complex corporate disputes.

Private Equity, venture capital, start-ups. It is important to devote at least some of my time and experience to advocating and developing the law in areas where the economic development of the country would otherwise be limited. For years I have considered private equity, venture capital and start-ups as such fields for me, so I focus on them both through actual work on legislative initiatives and advocating for change in my different roles, including as a legal advisor of the Latvian Venture Capital and Private Equity association.
