The European Commission has opened an in‑depth investigation into whether Chinese wind turbine manufacturer Goldwind Science & Technology Co., Ltd. received foreign subsidies that may have distorted competition in the EU internal market. The inquiry, launched under the Foreign Subsidies Regulation, follows preliminary indications of possible grants, preferential tax treatment and favourable financing that could have strengthened Goldwind’s market position in Europe.

Commission approves €3 billion German cleantech aid scheme

The European Commission has approved Germany’s €3 billion State aid scheme to expand cleantech manufacturing capacity, supporting the production of net‑zero technologies and related critical raw materials. The scheme, authorised under the Clean Industrial Deal State Aid Framework, will provide grants, tax advantages and loan support until 2030 to accelerate the transition to a net‑zero economy.

Commission preliminarily finds TikTok’s addictive design in breach of DSA

The European Commission has issued preliminary findings that TikTok’s core design features – including infinite scroll, autoplay, push notifications and its personalised recommender system – may breach the Digital Services Act due to their addictive effects on users, particularly minors. TikTok now has the opportunity to examine the Commission’s case file and submit a written response before the investigation proceeds toward a possible formal non‑compliance decision.
