The Official Journal has published Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2025/1125 of 5 June 2025, which complements MiCA (Regulation (EU) 2023/1114) by establishing regulatory technical standards (RTS) on the content requirements for applications to issue asset-referenced tokens (ARTs) to the public or to have them admitted to trading. The aim is to guarantee that national competent authorities receive uniform, comprehensive, and reliable information when reviewing authorisation requests under Title III of MiCA.

Commission accepts commitments from Microsoft addressing antitrust practices relating to Teams

The European Commission has agreed to legally binding commitments from Microsoft aimed at resolving concerns over alleged anti-competitive conduct stemming from the integration of its Teams collaboration platform with the widely used Office 365 and Microsoft 365 suites. The concerns focused on Microsoft’s dominant position in the cloud-based productivity software market and its practice of bundling Teams with applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, which may have curtailed competition in the market for communication and collaboration solutions.

Commission fines Google €2.95 billion for abuse of dominant position in adtech sector

The European Commission has imposed a €2.95 billion fine on Google for violating EU antitrust rules by distorting competition in the advertising technology (adtech) sector. According to the Commission, from 2014 to the present, Google exploited its dominant position in core adtech markets by giving preferential treatment to its own services, thereby disadvantaging competitors, advertisers, and publishers.
