About me
I am an assistant lawyer with Sorainen’s Tax and Customs practice group. I specialise in direct and indirect tax law and customs law, and assist clients with administrative disputes and tax compliance.
My experience mainly involves providing legal and tax assistance with cross-border customs procedures, ensuring tax compliance in Latvia, advising clients on matters relating to cooperation with the State Revenue Service, and conducting research on Latvian and European Union tax legislation.
Professional highlights
A fair tax system. I am passionate about working to promote a fairer and more transparent tax system tax environment, striving for an outcome that balances the interests of the state and society. I have been involved in projects that challenge Latvian tax legislation at an international level, as well as others aimed at ensuring compliance in Latvia with Latvian and EU legal principles. I also assist clients during disputes with the State Revenue Service.
Legal and tax research. I conduct research on national and international tax and customs regulations on matters relating to value-added tax, personal income tax, excise duty, and the application of EU customs procedures, as well as Latvian and EU case law, in order to provide clients with assistance grounded in legal sources, including judicial practice. In addition, I draft procedural documents.
Tax compliance. I have assisted foreign companies with VAT registration in Latvia and prepared the relevant tax returns for the State Revenue Service. In addition, I help clients provide accurate information on intra-community trade with other EU member states.
Development. It is essential for me to develop my knowledge in order to provide high-quality solutions to both clients and my team. At Sorainen, I am part of the Thinktank assistant lawyer team, where I have gained experience being involved and working on a wide range of legal issues and collaborating with other practice groups. I have helped to organise pre-moots, as well as organising the Sorainen Student Academy, an educational project for law students, across all three Baltic states. In addition, I regularly prepare articles on various legal topics.
