Sven Papp will take on the role of co-head of Sorainen Estonia’s Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) and Corporate and Employment Law teams. With Sven joining the firm, our M&A, corporate and employment law team – already the largest of its kind in the Baltics and highly regarded internationally – will be able to even better support our clients with legal solutions that directly advance their business goals, particularly in high‑stakes, time‑critical matters.
He will take the role of co-head together with the head of the firm’s M&A, Corporate and Employment practice group partner Toomas Prangli, and fellow co-heads and partners Piret Jesse, Mirell Prosa and Kadri Härginen.
“Sven is an absolute cornerstone of Estonian M&A and corporate law, with long-standing and outstanding international experience. The addition of such exceptional expertise opens up new opportunities for Sorainen, strengthens our team and accelerates our growth. With Sven’s support, we will be able to assist our clients even more comprehensively in M&A transactions, corporate law matters and private client advisory work,” said Toomas Prangli.
“This clearly establishes our Estonian corporate M&A team as the unequivocal leader of the Estonian market and further strengthens Sorainen’s corporate M&A capability as the strongest dealmaking team in the region. Baltic deal activity has been growing rapidly, as is the demand for our corporate M&A services,” said Eva Berlaus, Sorainen Managing Partner.
“We are also excited about Sven’s ability to contribute to our Private Clients sector group, where his extensive experience will reinforce Sorainen as the go-to adviser for families and high-net-worth individuals in the Baltic region,” Eva Berlaus added.

What does Sven’s appointment mean for our clients?
Experience in cross-border business advisory. Sven’s experience extends well beyond Estonia and the Baltics. He has worked at the New York and Stockholm offices of international law firm White & Case, at the Swedish–French strategic management consultancy SIAR-Bossard in Stockholm, and as Legal Director for Eastern Europe at Swedish-listed company Swedish Match.
Strong strategic business insight. Sven has served as a board member and/or adviser to a number of major companies and organisations, including Eesti Energia, Eesti Post, Eesti Telekom (now Telia Eesti), Eesti Pandipakend and companies within the Maag Group, among others.
“It appears that Estonia – and the world more broadly – is entering a new era of entrepreneurship, shaped by a rethinking of both local and global economic models, driven by recent geopolitical developments, the effective and intelligent use of artificial intelligence, and undoubtedly many other factors we cannot yet fully anticipate. I am delighted to be joining the largest transaction advisory team in the Baltics and to contribute to its further development, so that we are as well prepared as possible to support Sorainen’s clients at such an exciting and challenging time,” said Sven.

Sven joins an internationally recognised transaction team
In 2025, international transaction market analysis publication Mergermarket ranked us as the leading transaction adviser both in the Baltics and in Central and Eastern Europe, awarding the firm the titles “Baltic M&A Legal Adviser of the Year” and “Central and Eastern Europe M&A Legal Adviser of the Year”. This double recognition confirms our leading role in transactions that shape markets, attract new investors and influence sector development at an international level. During the period assessed, we advised on, among other matters, the three largest transactions in the Baltics.
From October 2024 to September 2025, we ranked first in the Baltics and Central and Eastern Europe by number of advised transactions (61 transactions with a total value of EUR 1.964 billion), outperforming international Central and Eastern European firms operating in larger markets. This reflects both the strategic development of the Baltic region and its growing influence in Central and Eastern Europe.
Sorainen Estonian employs 129 people and has 17 partners.
Tax practice expands at Sorainen Lithuania
Sorainen Lithuania has welcomed four experienced tax law professionals to its team: two partners, Dr Aistė Medelienė and Dr Mindaugas Lukas, as well as senior associate Andrius Venius and associate Grasildė Vileikienė. Following these developments, the firm has become the largest in the Baltics in terms of the number of partners, reflecting its long-term investment in top-tier expertise.
“This expansion clearly demonstrates our Baltic-wide ambition. By strengthening our tax team across seniority levels, we are responding to growing client demand and building the strongest regional platform for complex, cross-border tax matters,” says Eva Berlaus, managing partner of Sorainen. “Lithuania plays a key role in the Baltic business landscape – both as a growing market and as a gateway for companies expanding across the region. Enhancing tax capabilities here supports clients wherever their business decisions take them,” she adds.
