Sorainen was shortlisted in four categories in The Financial TimesInnovative Lawyers Awards Europe 2022, this being the highest number of nominations of any law firm from the Baltic or Nordic regions.

Leda Iržikevičienė, COO of Sorainen, comments: “Innovation is a part of our firm’s DNA and our understanding of it is much broader than only applying innovative technology in our work. We constantly look for new approaches in everything we do and aim to increase the value we create for our clients through innovation. We appreciate that our multiple efforts in this direction have also been recognised by The Financial Times.”

The Financial Times’ Innovative Lawyers Awards highlight law firms and in‐house teams which are digitally advanced and use innovative approaches to deliver exceptional value to business and society. This year, the awards ceremony will take place on 13 October 2022.

We have been shortlisted in the following categories:

Learning and Development

Learning management platform iKnow

To raise the efficiency and quality of our trainings, Sorainen has launched iKnow – our own learning management system which provides extensive content for both legal and business services teams. It contains a comprehensive onboarding programme for every newcomer as well as individually assigned learning journeys for all employees based on the level of seniority. To our knowledge, Sorainen is the first in the Baltics and one of only a few law firms in CEE to have launched such a modern platform.

Professionalising business services

Interim lawyers service

Responding to the increasing need for more flexibility, Sorainen launched an innovative interim (on-demand) lawyer service – hiring external lawyers to be used as an extended resource for Sorainen on high peaks and on-demand lawyers for clients. Externally, the interim lawyers service is meant to support larger in-house legal departments of our clients or as (full- or part-time) in-house lawyers for growing companies needing to set up or strengthen their legal functions.

Using data

International law firms sector group

We created an International Law Firms (ILFs) sector group, successfully applying the sector/industry group model to developing relationships with ILFs. We appointed strong relationship partners for the top ILFs with which we cooperate and created a dedicated task force. The approach proved to be very successful and gave us a competitive advantage in the market.

Innovative Leader

Aku Sorainen

The founder and senior partner of the firm, Aku Sorainen, was nominated in the Individual Leader category for trailblazing legal technology adoption in the region.

Aku is the most devoted advocate of the innovation and modernisation processes that arise from focusing the firm’s strategy on knowledge management and innovation development. One recent example is Jarvis, an modern practice management system developed in-house. Lately we have been actively preparing for launching the commercial version of the system, which is soon to be offered on the international legal services market.

By successfully implementing modern legal technology solutions we are elevating the professional standard in our industry – in the Baltics and Nordics, but also the wider region.
