About me

My passion is to help people and organisations be free, secure, prosperous, and successful. With extensive experience as a security expert in information security and economic criminal law, I ensure that the advice and support I provide help maintain and develop these four pillars of well-being.

In my day-to-day work, I stand for clients’ rights in criminal proceedings and help resolve information security challenges – enabling businesses and services to operate sustainably both in the near future and in a hundred years’ time. To keep this vision viable, I contribute to the work of the Data & Tech and Dispute Resolution & Risk Management practice groups at Sorainen.

According to Art. 40 (3) of the Bar Association Act, lawyers do not provide legal services. Lawyers are assisting the attorneys.

Professional highlights

A considered approach to risk. Risk may at first seem daunting, yet without it, there is no progress or innovation. To benefit from risk and avoid adverse outcomes, it must be managed systematically across all fields. My risk-based mindset was shaped by my work as a prosecutor at the Estonian Prosecutor’s Office, where I led pre-trial proceedings in cyber and economic crime cases and represented the state in prosecutions, as well as by my role as a cybersecurity supervision expert at the Estonian Information System Authority. In these roles, success depended on thorough fact analysis, mapping of issues, and identification of alternative solutions.

Balancing freedom and security. Both are essential in a democratic society. When the balance shifts too far in either direction, courage, creativity, confidence, integrity and trust are affected. As a cybersecurity expert, I found that making complex issues understandable and supporting organisations often delivers better results than enforcement. This approach enabled several organisations to bring their information security under control without penalties. As a prosecutor, I also used settlements and out-of-court solutions where appropriate, or supported fair and proportionate sanctions. This helped strengthen trust in the rule of law.

Solution-oriented mindset. I focus on solutions rather than obstacles. Even in complex situations, it is possible to find a practical and effective way forward that enables progress and allows good ideas to be realised.

Systematic collaboration. Success is built on open, close and constructive cooperation with both teams and partners. This was reinforced in a high-profile criminal case involving crypto entrepreneurs from Ida-Virumaa, where proceedings extended from Estonia to the United States. I have worked both within Europe and beyond and understand the importance of clear and consistent communication.

Broad development. I value combining expertise across different fields and continuous professional development. My background in information security enables me to provide substantive support to clients in both litigation and its prevention, particularly in light of the growing role of digitalisation.
