On 12 June 2018 Sorainen counsel, attorney-at-law Darius Raulušaitis, was elected to the Lithuanian Bar Association Committee on criminal law and criminal procedural law.

The goal of the Committee is to ensure high quality comprehensive solutions to problems arising in applying criminal law and the rules of criminal procedure. The Committee also seeks optimal solutions in terms of improving legislation. One of the Committee’s main areas of activity is participation in law-making by helping the Bar Association shape positions on criminal law and the rules of criminal procedure.

Comments Darius Raulušaitis: “I am honoured to be entrusted with the responsibility to help improve criminal law. I believe that my long-standing experience in the Lithuanian criminal law system will serve as a valuable input in resolving problems in the field.”

The Lithuanian Bar Association (LBA) committees are an important body of self-governance. Their main purpose consists in spotlighting problems and suggesting possible solutions. Currently the LBA maintains five committees: Disciplinary, criminal law and procedure, information technology, taxation of lawyers, and state-funded legal aid.
