We advised renewable energy company Green Genius on a EUR 65 million green bond issue in the Nordic capital market. The proceeds will be used to refinance existing subordinated loans that funded the construction of its projects.

The green bonds have a four-year maturity and carry an annual interest rate of 3-month EURIBOR plus a margin of 8%. The bonds are expected to be listed on the Nasdaq Stockholm Sustainable Bond List.

The issue attracted strong interest from international institutional investors. The investor base was broadly diversified geographically, with the bonds purchased by investors from the Nordic and Baltic countries, the United Kingdom, the United States and other markets.

“We are steadily pursuing our strategic goal of building a portfolio of more than 1 GW of owned operating power plants by 2030. This bond issue allows us to simplify the group’s capital structure and strengthen our financial flexibility for further growth. This is particularly important today, as we build an increasingly diversified portfolio spanning solar, wind, biomethane and energy storage solutions across our core markets,” says Ruslan Sklepovič, CEO of Green Genius.

The bonds were issued under Green Genius’s Green Financing Framework, approved in 2026, which is aligned with the International Capital Market Association (ICMA) Green Bond Principles. Moody’s Ratings provided a Second Party Opinion (SPO) on the framework and assigned it a high sustainability quality score of SQS2 (Very Good).

Green Genius currently operates 595 MW of solar, wind and battery parks and produces 108 GWh of biomethane per year. A further 224 MW of solar and battery projects are in the final stages of construction and are expected to be connected to the grid in the coming months. The company’s total development pipeline across all its markets amounts to 3.1 GW.
