As of 1 January 2017, partner Tomas Kontautas, current head of the Sorainen Banking, Finance & Insurance practice group, is appointed the Office Managing Partner of Sorainen Lithuania.

“We are happy with our firm’s strong growth in Lithuania during recent years and are positive that this growth will continue under the leadership of Tomas Kontautas. We believe that Sorainen’s one-firm model, with integrated regional partnership and a rotation of leadership positions, is one of our main competitive advantages”, says senior partner Aku Sorainen.

Over the past four years the Sorainen Lithuanian office has consolidated its market position by growing partnership from six to eleven partners and doubling its legal staff – today already employs 79 lawyers. Sorainen has continuously demonstrated above-market growth and during the last four years the firm’s revenue in Lithuania grew by more than 125%. In 2016 Sorainen became the first law firm from the Nordic-Baltic region to win the “European Law Firm of the Year” title at The Lawyer European Awards.

Co-managing Partner of Sorainen Laimonas Skibarka, who has served as Office Managing Partner at Sorainen Lithuania for four last years, also adds: “as our firm grows bigger and now employs over 180 lawyers in the Baltic States and Belarus, we have to ensure the continuous growth of leadership as well. Tomas has proved to be an influential front-runner, under his leadership the firm’s Banking, Finance & Insurance practice group became a top-tier player in our region, has grown into partners Saulë Dagilytë, head of Tax practice in Lithuania.”

Tomas Kontautas joined the firm in 2006 and in 2008 became the fifth partner with Sorainen Lithuania. Tomas studied at Vilnius University as well as at the University of Hamburg and Erasmus University Rotterdam where he obtained a European Master’s in Law and Economics (EMLE) degree. In 2006 he was awarded a doctoral degree in Social Sciences (Law) by Vilnius University.

Laimonas Skibarka, the previous Lithuanian Office Managing Partner, continues serving as Co-managing Partner of the firm together with Toomas Prangli. Laimonas will now increase his attention to strategic management of the whole firm as well as advising the Sorainen clients.
