Sorainen has released the latest issue of its sustainability report, reaffirming its commitment to responsible business practices, innovation and inclusive growth. The report highlights key achievements and initiatives across the firm, reflecting how we continue to drive positive impact for clients, employees and society.

Chief operating officer Eglė Venskūnienė commented: “Sustainability is a path to building a resilient, future-ready organisation. Each year, as we reflect on our progress, I’m proud to see the steady and deliberate continuing steps we take in order to integrate sustainable practices into our day-to-day operations. Our commitment to sustainability is not driven by obligation, but by a genuine belief that responsible business is the only way to create long-term value for our clients, our people, and wider society. While we don’t claim to have all the answers, we believe in the value of transparency and ongoing improvement. By sharing our journey, we hope to contribute meaningfully to a more sustainable and responsible future.“

Deepening ESG leadership and impact for clients and society

Over the past year, Sorainen has strengthened its position as a leading ESG-focused law firm in the Baltic market. ESG-related services have recorded a more than sixfold increase in billable hours since their introduction, demonstrating growing demand from clients committed to sustainable practices.

The firm advised on major renewable energy projects, including one of the largest wind farms in the Baltics, as well as large-scale solar, wind and hybrid parks, reinforcing its role in supporting the region’s green transition.

Sorainen’s efforts were recognised once again by The Legal 500 EMEA Green Guide, underscoring its reputation as a trusted partner in advancing sustainable business operations.

Driving innovation remained at the core of Sorainen’s strategy. In partnership with Microsoft, the firm launched AiVar, its proprietary AI-powered tool, which is now deployed across all offices. AiVar streamlines research, knowledge sharing and routine legal tasks, improving efficiency while ensuring robust security.

Alongside AiVar, Sorainen leverages cutting-edge solutions such as Luminance, Definely, Green Meadow, Crespect and Nuix, placing the firm among Europe’s most innovative law firms – confirmed by recognition from The Financial Times.

Building an inclusive, people-first culture

Sorainen continued to strengthen its Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) agenda. The appointment of the firm’s first female managing partner and progress towards the goal of 41% women partners by 2025 reflect its commitment to gender equality and inclusive leadership.

Employee engagement reached a remarkable score of 77, well above the Baltic average, with 100% of employees receiving structured career feedback. The firm invested nearly EUR 1 million in wellbeing and professional development, ensuring fair progression, flexible work options and a supportive culture for all team members.

Strengthening our impact on society and the environment

Sorainen dedicated over EUR 169,000 to pro bono work, supporting more than 70 projects through its Shared Mission programme, and continued investing in education via the Sorainen Student Academy and mentorship initiatives.

Environmental responsibility remained a priority: the firm maintained ISO certification for environmental management across all offices, collaborated with suppliers to strengthen sustainability commitments, and actively monitored its carbon footprint.
