In April this year, Jānis Līkops joined the Sorainen partnership. Jānis will be complementing the Corporate and M&A management teams, as well as the Real Estate & Construction practice groups at the Sorainen Latvian office.
Both of the aforementioned practice groups at Sorainen Latvia showed an excellent increase in turnover indicators last year (between 20% and 25%) and saw an expansion of their teams. This kind of growth creates a consequent need to strengthen the management of the teams by attracting an experienced manager and recognised expert in the field.
During his career, Jānis has advised clients on many notable company acquisitions and mergers, as well as real estate sales and other transactions in the Baltics. He has been involved in several working groups for the development of regulatory acts. Latvian and foreign clients highly appreciate Jānis’s 20 years of experience, and balanced and practical advice, as well as his negotiation skills.
The international legal practice directories Chambers and The Legal 500 rank Jānis among the leading positions for both real estate and business transactions.
During his career, Jānis Līkops has worked at a number of Latvian law firms, notable among them being Sorainen, where Jānis worked from 2005 to 2013. Along with Jānis Līkops, eight more colleagues have joined the Sorainen team.
Counsel Māris Liguts, an experienced attorney-at-law, will be responsible for the growth of the Sorainen Private Client sector group and will also be an active member of the Corporate, M&A and Finance practice groups. Māris has more than 20 years of experience in the banking sector and in providing legal advice. His business-oriented thinking, combined with a personal approach to each client, has helped him to provide the highest-quality legal services and to build long-term relationships with his clients.
The Sorainen Real Estate team will welcome senior associate Vita Berlaua and legal assistant Mariuss Raits Bergmanis. At the Corporate and M&A practice group, senior associate Roberts Prūsis, senior associate Ieva Prūse and legal assistant Imants Kreičmanis will be additions to the team. Senior associate Santa Prauliņa will join the Competition & Regulatory practice group. As well as her colleagues, the practice group coordinator Tatjana Vavilova will be joining our team.
Since the beginning of 2024, tax expert Aija Lasmane has joined the Sorainen partnership in Latvia. With Jānis Līkops joining, the total number of Sorainen partners has reached 45, while the total size of the Sorainen Latvian office has grown to 113.
