We advised Biovela Group, the largest meat processing group in the Baltic states, on its planned acquisition of a controlling stake in UAB Idavang.
Idavang is the largest pig farming company in the Baltic region and has been operating in Lithuania since 1999. The company manages 12 farms and produces around 480,000 pigs annually. In 2025, Idavang’s revenues exceeded EUR 80 million, it employed approximately 400 people, and its production was exported to Poland and Latvia.
Biovela Group is the largest meat processing group in the Baltic states, with consolidated annual revenues exceeding EUR 330 million. The group produces more than 85,000 tonnes of products annually and employs over 1,800 people.
The planned acquisition aims to create a vertically integrated business model – from livestock farming to the final product. This model reflects global trends in the food industry and enables greater efficiency, enhanced competitiveness, and a more sustainable and controlled supply chain.
The transaction value has not been disclosed and the transaction remains subject to clearance by the Competition Council.
The acquisition is expected to strengthen the development of locally sourced raw materials and increase the sector’s resilience to external factors, as well as contribute to restoring long-term export potential. Currently, Lithuania produces around 45% of its domestic pork demand, making such investments significant for the development of the national food sector.
