The philanthropic activities of H.E. Valdas Adamkus, former President of the Republic of Lithuania, and his late wife Alma Adamkienė will be continued by the established endowment fund. Alma and Valdas Adamkus Charity and Support Fund with restricted capital will support the Valdas Adamkus Presidential Library-Museum in Kaunas as well as gifted students in schools and socially vulnerable groups, thus continuing the philanthropic initiatives of former first lady of Lithuania Alma Adamkienė.
“In Lithuania, endowment funds remain a relatively new phenomenon. We are therefore very happy that Lithuania’s most respected politician, President Valdas Adamkus, has set a positive example by initiating such a fund and dedicating his family’s lifetime savings to meaningful, long-term philanthropic goals. We also see that there is space for improving the tax and legal regulations for endowment funds in Lithuania and plan to contribute to that as well,” says Laimonas Skibarka, head of Sorainen’s Private Clients sector group.
