Recognised as among Europe’s most innovative law firms

The Financial Times Innovative Lawyers report 2025 has once again included Sorainen among the most innovative law firms in Europe. This year, we ranked 41st, placing us among the top 50 law firms on the continent and making Sorainen the only firm from the Baltics included in this prestigious list.
Competition for a place in the report intensifies every year, reflecting how innovation has become a central focus for law firms’ operations across Europe. Being included among the most forward-thinking firms underscores the impact of our continuous efforts to integrate new ways of working, explore technology, and deliver greater value to our clients.
Individual excellence
In addition to the recognition of the firm as a whole, two Sorainen lawyers were recognised individually:
- Violeta Zeppa-Priedīte, head of Corporate Crime Investigations & Compliance, was shortlisted among the top ten lawyers in Europe in the “Innovative Practitioner” category. Violeta was recognised for her pioneering work in developing new approaches to challenges related to ESG, tax and corporate governance, and for helping clients navigate emerging areas of regulation. Her research background – she holds a doctorate in law – and her commitment to bridging theory and practice have made her a key voice in advancing innovation in the legal field.
- Lise-Lotte Laane, head of Life Sciences & Healthcare, was shortlisted in the “Innovative Lawyer in Science & Technology” category, highlighting her contribution to supporting clients in high-tech and knowledge-intensive industries.
According to Irina Seniut, head of Knowledge Management and Innovation, this recognition of forward-thinking lawyers and law firms highlights their efforts in modernising of legal services, enabling us to take inspiration from our peers and share our most successful experiences in order to move forward together as a community. She notes that the firm’s approach is grounded in practicality: “Innovation is not just another initiative for us. It is integrated into our daily practice and reflected in the way we work with our clients.”
Innovation in practice
One of Sorainen’s projects that stood out is our approach to AI adoption, which is highly original due to its emphasis on customisation and internal development. Rather than relying on third-party, off-the-shelf solutions, the firm created AiVar – an in-house AI tool specifically designed to suit its operational environment.
Innovation is also cultivated through our innovation-themed Summer Days, which this year brought together over 300 Sorainen employees. Combining technological demonstrations with practical skill development, the event strengthened our culture of constant professional growth. It created a space for colleagues to explore new ideas and tools, encouraging a more efficient, inclusive and innovative mindset across the firm.
Our commitment to innovation is equally visible in how we integrate sustainability and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) principles into our everyday operations. From mentorship programmes and flexible work policies to unconscious bias training, Sorainen continues to evolve as a responsible and inclusive organisation.
We have also transformed our offices with renewable energy commitments and achieved high-level green office certifications, aligning our physical spaces with our values and long-term vision.
Together, these initiatives demonstrate that at Sorainen, innovation is not a single project or department – it is a firm-wide philosophy driving progress in technology, culture and sustainability.
