In its latest rankings Chambers FinTech has ranked Sorainen Fintech team in top tier in Lithuania and Estonia. It is the second year in the row that our team in Lithuania has been awarded the highest ranking. The international directory also named Augustas Klezys, Tomas Kontautas, Laura Matukaitytė and Kätlin Krisak among the top fintech experts in the region.

According to Chambers, “the firm receives exceptional feedback from peers and clients alike. Whether assisting the development of e-money and payment institutions or helping blockchain and cryptocurrency companies with a range of legal issues, Sorainen is a go-to choice within the country’s FinTech ecosystem.”

Our dedication to helping clients succeed is also highlighted: “They’re extremely good at what they do. Not only do they have extensive knowledge, but they also have the ability to figure out different routes to accomplish what we need.” More client testimonials can be found here (Lithuania) and here (Estonia).

Contribution to the development of the market

In addition to advising top fintech companies, we also continuously contribute to the development of the country’s fintech industry in both Lithuania and Estonia.

Since 2019, Sorainen has been an official partner of the Startup Wise Guys Fintech accelerator programme and is continuing its partnership with this year’s programme. Our Lithuanian team was also actively involved in developing the document “Guidelines on Securities Token Offerings” released by the Bank of Lithuania. Additionally, Sorainen is a member of the FINTECH Lithuania association, which operates under INFOBALT association flag.

Our Estonian team has been representing FinanceEstonia who is on the forefront of legislative changes pertaining to crypto-asset regulation and amendments to the Estonian AML act. Our team was also involved in a landmark dispute where Estonian courts analysed a tokenholder’s right to unilaterally reverse a token purchase in an ICO context for the first time.

Among our clients are:

  • Google Payment Lithuania – we advised on compliance and matters related to launching the business
  • Verse Payments – we advised on the acquisition transaction
  • CBI Money – we advised on the process of obtaining an e-money licence
  • CoinMetro – we assisted in preparing a legal opinion required for Mastercard from its cryptocurrency merchants
