We successfully represented our client, one of the largest real estate investment groups in Europe, in arbitration proceedings before the Arbitration Institute of Stockholm Chamber of Commerce (SCC) against a former contractor for one of the largest business centres in Lithuania.

The case was unique in that this complex construction dispute was on a large scale and related to in-depth construction and contract interpretation in the context of the formerly contractual relationship. Due to this, several experts in the construction field were appointed to the arbitration proceedings to assist in tackling the various technical aspects of the dispute.

The contractor, a subsidiary of a major Italian construction company, filed for international arbitration against our client, requesting an additional amount to be paid for construction works performed and completed under a construction agreement concluded between the parties in 2015. The amount disputed was nearly EUR 2 million.

By combining our legal knowledge and experience in international arbitration, as well as know-how in the construction industry and contractual relations, we successfully defended our client as the former contractor’s claim was dismissed in full by the arbitral tribunal.
