About me
I co-head our Financial & Insurance, and Dispute Resolution and Risk Management practices in Estonia. I have extensive experience in financial market licensing applications, criminal defence, internal investigations and compliance assessments, and I have been involved in all major white-collar cases in Estonia in recent history.
Professional highlights
Financial regulation and fintech. I advise clients on financial regulatory matters, including market infrastucture, alternative financing and fintech sectors. I have been involved in setting up most of the region’s crowdfunding platforms and have supported fintech companies in landmark financing transactions, licensing processes and ongoing regulatory compliance, including interaction with supervisory authorities.
Criminal compliance and internal investigations. I represent and defend corporate clients in matters related to white-collar crime. I have extensive experience in internal investigations and compliance assessments and have been involved in many of the most significant white-collar cases in Estonia in recent years.
Academic work and contribution to legal science. I am the author of numerous academic books and articles and have been involved in university teaching since 2007. I have been a visiting scholar at various European universities and am widely regarded as a leading academic expert in criminal compliance and anti-money laundering. I also serve as Vice Chairman of the Estonian Legal Science Society, contributing to the development of legal scholarship and professional collaboration.
