Minsk has hosted the most significant dispute resolution event in our region – the Eastern European Dispute Resolution Forum (EEDRF). Meanwhile the most active young participants in the arbitration community from Belarus (Young Alternative Dispute Resolution Belarus and Austria (Young Austrian Arbitration Practitioners held a joint conference on the topic “Interaction between courts and tribunals in Austria and Belarus”.

Speakers and moderators present at the event are practicing lawyers from leading Austrian and Belarusian law firms. Attendees discussed general issues of regulation of arbitration, as well as peculiarities of rules and practices established in the most important arbitration institutions of Austria and Belarus – the International Arbitration Court at the BelCCI and the Vienna International Arbitral Centre. The discussion touched upon such issues as measures to secure a claim, parallel proceedings in state and arbitration courts, as well as recognition and enforcement of arbitral awards.

From our side, partner Alexey Anischenko participated as a speaker, while associate and Young ADR Belarus project coordinator Aliaksei Vashkevich took an active role in organising the conference.
