Sorainen has enjoyed a longstanding partnership with the American Chamber of Commerce in Latvia (AmCham Latvia), which is being marked by a year of collaborative events. Our Sorainen experts have joined AmCham Latvia in their aim to foster mutually advantageous economic ties between the United States and Latvia. In our latest cooperative effort, we worked together to translate and adapt a handbook, and to organise a workshop on value-based procurement.

Understanding value-based procurement: a tailored handbook

To introduce a manual for the implementation and application of value-based procurement, commissioned by AmCham Latvia, Sorainen translated and adapted a handbook entitled “Value-based procurement: a new approach to purchasing”, based on French practice. The handbook was created and localised for Latvian needs in cooperation with RESAH, the French central purchasing body for hospitals.

A workshop for insights into value-based procurement strategies

Following the creation of the handbook, Sorainen organised a workshop in Riga, Latvia during the autumn of 2023, commissioned by AmCham Latvia. The workshop, entitled “Launch of RESAH guidelines promoting value-based procurement” was organised for healthcare institutions and professionals in the medical industry, providing them with insights to develop procurement strategies that align with both medical objectives and patient interests.

Speakers at the workshop included Hans Bax, senior advisor for value-based procurement at MedTech Europe; Hugo Senichault, head of strategic pricing and data analysis at Abbott’s French office; and our senior associate Katrīne Pļaviņa-Mika.

The workshop was organised with the involvement of partner Ieva Andersone, who is a member of the AmCham Latvia Healthcare working group, senior associate Katrīne Pļaviņa-Mika, associate Katrīna Bičevska, and assistant lawyer Sabīne Stirniņa.

This series of events, focused on promoting knowledge and understanding of value-based procurement, is based on the concept of value-based healthcare developed by AmCham Latvia in 2022.
