We advised Livonia Partners, one of the leading private equity funds in the Baltics, on acquiring a majority stake in Medicum, one of Estonia’s largest healthcare companies. Founded in 1986, Medicum’s group of 450 employees provides general and specialised medical care across five locations in Tallinn, Harju County and Tartu.

The involvement of Livonia Partners enables Medicum, as a significant service provider in the healthcare sector, to achieve its growth and development goals, including faster development in areas where healthcare services are not sufficiently accessible to those in need. This investment will support the group’s specialised medical care, rehabilitation, dental care, and home nursing companies.

Well-rounded support for patients

“As a local investor, we are delighted to be supporting Medicum’s next growth leap, ensuring better access to healthcare services for Estonian people and increasing the number of healthy years lived,” said Maarja Pärs, Livonia Fund’s investment manager. Currently investing from a EUR 157 million fund, the Livonia team operates in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.

“My heart is at ease knowing that Medicum, which has been built up with a dedicated team, will remain in good and caring hands,” said Dr Jaanus Vool, who has led and developed the Medicum group for 24 years.

The transaction will take effect after approval from the Competition Authority.
