We advised Sunly on a transaction, under which Magnora Data Center (MDATA) acquired a 50% interest in the Risti Kampus data centre project. The transaction established a joint venture between MDATA and Sunly to develop a large-scale data centre campus in western Estonia.
Bringing Sunly’s strategy together in one location
The Risti Kampus project is planned as a large-scale data centre campus with an initial capacity of 180 MW and the potential to expand to 400 MW. The site will be connected to both the power grid and Sunly’s adjacent renewable energy park, featuring 244 MWp of solar capacity, 144 MW of battery energy storage and 44 MW of wind power in development.
“Risti hybrid park brings Sunly’s strategy together in one place. The data centre site sits next to what will soon be the largest solar park in the Baltics, where we are also building battery storage capacity and planning a wind park. A large consumer like a data centre ties all of this into a single system,” explains Priit Lepasepp, CEO of Sunly.
Under the joint venture partnership, Sunly will continue to lead local execution, permitting activities, and energy-related development, while MDATA will lead commercial strategy, positioning and customer engagement.
