2025 was the year our startup scene bounced back – with more newcomers than ever, a few superstar founders whose efforts made well-deserved history, and startups once again talking of profit, not just revenue.
While 2024 was a year of survival mode for the startup sector, 2025 showed signs of renewed momentum. We saw record-breaking activity: in the public round alone, a total of 506 candidates were submitted across 11 award categories. This is a strong signal that the Estonian startup community has found a new gear and, despite the challenges, is more resilient than ever before.
This year, the nomination lists featured an unprecedented number of new players. We witnessed DeepTech and DefenceTech move from laboratories to real, world-class results. Our more established SaaS and HealthTech companies are tougher and more profitable than ever.
We’re already excited to see what 2026 brings for the startup sector.
