We advised the buyer on one of the most significant transactions of 2025 in the centre of Riga: the historic Benjamin House was sold for EUR 5.53 million. The Estonian real estate developer Kapitel (Benjaminu nams SIA) concluded a sales transaction with the company SIA The Benjamin House, marking the house’s return to the Latvian business environment.
About transaction
The Benjamin House is one of Latvia’s most remarkable cultural and historical landmarks, closely associated with the influential publishers Emīlija and Antons Benjamins. The architecture and history of this magnificent building reflect both the growth of Latvian society and dramatic turning points in the nation’s destiny, making it a powerful symbol in Latvia’s cultural and public life. Once its interiors were completed, the Benjamin House became a vibrant hub of social and cultural life, hosting high-level receptions, cultural evenings, discussions, and meetings with writers, artists, politicians and diplomats.
Until recently, the property was indirectly owned by the Estonian real estate company Kapitel, one of the largest real estate developers in the Baltic region.
As part of the completed transaction, the property was handed over to the buyer for use a year and a half ago, ensuring that the return of the Benjamin House in Riga’s social life was not delayed. The change of ownership was completed in December 2025. The future for the Benjamin House is envisioned as being an open and multifunctional urban space that preserves its historical character and significance while being made accessible to a contemporary audience.
