Latvia are hosting this year’s annual World Law Group conference, which will bring together law firm partners from around the world, according to the organisers – the international law firm Sorainen.

The World Law Group is an independent international association of law firms, uniting 61 firms across 88 countries and representing more than 21,000 lawyers who advise leading companies in various industries worldwide.

This year, 150 partners from law firms represented by the association will take part in the World Law Group conference in Riga. In addition to current topics such as global economic trends, trade, law, artificial intelligence and innovation, participants will also gain insight into the business environment in the Baltics. The conference will be held in Riga and Jūrmala from 29 to 31 May.

The Baltic region will be the focus of a special discussion at the conference, titled “Business in the Baltics”, on 29 May. One of the keynote speakers will be former President of Estonia, Toomas Hendrik Ilves. The panel will also include Līva Zorgenfreija, Chief Economist at Swedbank Latvia; Mariano Andrade Gonzalez (Johnson Matthey); Aku Sorainen; and Jonas Vento (Invest Estonia).

“For us, as Sorainen law firm, for Riga and Latvia, it is a great honour to host the World Law Group conference, which will be attended by more than 150 lawyers and legal experts who advise global companies on a daily basis in a wide range of legal fields. I am particularly pleased that this year’s conference topics focus on such topical issues as investment in digital products and research, technological development and innovation,” emphasises Ieva Andersone, managing partner of Sorainen Latvia office. “We hope that the discussions at this conference will reinforce the view of Latvia and the Baltic region as an attractive and secure business environment, demonstrate that our country is open to innovation, and highlight its ability to provide effective legal regulation and enforcement for both local exporters and foreign investors.”

The opening of the conference and the first three discussion panels, dedicated to the business environment in the Baltic States, will take place on 29 May. On the second day, 30 May, participants will explore industry trends and challenges such as cooperation strategies, sustainability, market issues, and more. The conference will conclude on 31 May in Jūrmala.

Founded in 1988, the World Law Group is now one of the largest international networks of independent full-service law firms globally.

In 2025, the international law firm Sorainen will celebrate 30 years of operation, during which it has contributed to the economic growth and security of the Baltic region by advising companies across various sectors, with a particular focus in recent years on start-ups and technology defence firms. The firm has provided pro bono legal advice to citizens, established cooperation with law firms worldwide, and supported future legal professionals in their studies and career development.
