We advised international renewable energy group Aura Power on the sale of its majority stake in UAB Aura Power Dubhe (together with other minority shareholders’ stakes, comprising 100% ownership) to local Lithuanian investor UAB Karjerų linija. The company is developing a 50 MW / 100 MWh late-stage battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Kaišiadorys, Lithuania, which is expected to make a significant contribution to the country’s energy independence and grid stability once completed and operational.
Aura Power, founded in Bristol, UK, in 2013, is a leading global developer of renewable energy projects, with regional teams operating across Europe and North America. The company specialises in delivering utility-scale solar farms and battery energy storage systems, with an active development pipeline of over 10 GW, including 0.8 GW in Lithuania.
According to Aura Power, this successful divestment of the Kaišiadorys BESS project underscores Aura Power’s commitment to advancing renewable energy infrastructure across Europe, validates its development strategy, and highlights the critical role of battery storage in supporting the Baltics’ energy transition and enhancing grid resilience, particularly following the region’s synchronisation with Continental Europe.
