Experience

Santa Rubīna, a senior associate, has been practising law since 2008.

Santas' key areas of expertise are insurance, banking and finance, capital markets, investment funds, structures and pensions. During her career with Sorainen Santa has advised insurers on life and non-life insurance contract law issues, including consumer protection issues during development of insurance products. She has also assisted the Latvian Insurance Association and reviewed suggested amendments to the Insurance Contract Law. Santa has advised clients on complex insurance regulatory issues under Latvian and EU law and has provided extensive advice during claims handling, including negotiating and developing litigation strategies, and representing clients in court. 

Santa has advised clients in complex matters in the banking and finance industry, from regulatory issues related to operation and supervision of banks and other market players to advising clients on finance transactions, including advising on creation and release of different types of security interests. Santa has also advised on issues related to enforcement of security interests in Latvia. She was adviser to the Latvian Venture Capital Association in negotiations with the regulator during implementation of the Alternative Investment Fund Management Directive into Latvian legislation. 

Santa authored the Jurisdiction Update on Latvian Insurance Regulation published on www.complinet.com. She is also co-author of legal publications in the local business media on topical insurance subjects.
